After having their All A Classic quarterfinal game against University Heights Academy postponed twice this week, the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons finally took to the field for the first time in more than two weeks. The Lady Falcons made the journey to ‘cave land’ and dropped a pair of games to Caverna.

The Lady Colonels won 8-4 in the opening game and then walked off a 9-8 win in the bottom of the 7th in the other game.

Errors were the undoing for Fort Campbell in the 8-4 loss. The Lady Colonels scored two runs in the first, two runs in the second, and three more in the third to open up the game. Two of those runs were unearned as the Lady Falcons had five early errors.

Amar’e Moore, Jordan Wilkerson, and Daniela Hernandez drove in runs for the Lady Falcons.

In the other game, after entering the bottom of the 7th trailing, a 2-run infield error allowed Caverna to tie the game and an outfield error on the very next play allowed Caverna to walk off a 9-8 win over the Lady Falcons.

Fort Campbell entered the last half-inning holding an 8-3 lead, only to see the Lady Colonels come charging back to take the win. Fort Campbell had three errors in the final inning and six for the game.

The late rally for Caverna negated a big game, both in the circle and at the plate, from 7th grader Amar’e Moore. Moore was 3-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

In the circle, Moore went the full game, giving up 9 runs, only 3 of them earned, on 6 hits, striking out 14 and walking 3.

The Lady Falcons are now set to play their All A Classic game against UHA Monday evening on the Lady Blazers’ home field. The winner will immediately turn around and play Livingston Central in a semifinal round game.
