Tigers Cruise Past Falcons for Season Sweep

The Hopkinsville baseball team picked up its second win in as many days over 8th-District rivals Fort Campbell on Tuesday with an 11-0 decision for the Tigers’ eighth victory in a row.

Hoptown completed a season sweep over the Falcons by a combined score of 26-0, the Tigers’ 26th straight win in the series.

RBI singles by Andrew Mayes and Gavin Powell highlighted a five-run first, and Jackson Guier drove in a pair of runs with a single in the top of the fourth for a 10-0 Tiger advantage.

Lucas Kaetzel capped the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, and Gavin Mitchell struck out two in the bottom of the frame to finish off a complete-game victory.  Mitchell held the Falcons to only two hits while striking out nine and issuing a single walk to notch his first win of the season.

Powell had two hits for the Tigers and drove in a pair of runs, with Kaetzel and Guier also finishing with two RBI.

Fort Campbell slipped to 3-16 with its third straight defeat ahead of a trip to Clarksville Northwest on Thursday.

Hopkinsville will look to extend its winning streak and remain undefeated in district play when Heritage Christian Academy visits on Thursday.
