Lady Lyons Go 1-2 at Muhlenberg County Lady Mustang Stampede

A 1-2 day for the Lyon County Lady Lyons Saturday. The Lady Lyons were in Muhlenberg County taking part in the Lady Mustang Stampede.

The first game of the day saw the Lady Lyons pound out 15 hits on their way to an 11-1 five-inning win over the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm.

Courtney Collins, Lauren Davis, and Lilly Perry had three hits each in leading the Lady Lyon offensive attack. Collins had 2 home runs and 4 RBIs. Perry had two doubles and drove in three runs. Davis scored three runs.

The Lady Lyons pushed across runs in every inning but the second.

Lilly Perry got the start in the circle and picked up the win. She went three innings, giving up no runs and no hits, striking out three and walking none.

In their second game of the day, the Lady Lyons had 12 hits but managed to score just three runs from those hits as they dropped a 9-3 decision to the host Muhlenberg County Lady Mustangs.

The Lady Mustangs picked up the win despite being charged with four errors in the game. The Lady Lyons also had their issues in the field, committing three errors.

Muhlenberg County led 3-1 after four innings and then put the game away with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th and three more in the bottom of the 6th.

It was another big game for Lauren Davis, who went 3-4 with two runs scored. Gracen Wynn and Destiny Cayce added two hits each for the Lady Lyons.

Lilly Perry went all six innings in the circle for Lyon County, giving up 9 runs, six of them earned, on 12 hits, striking out one and walking three.

The final game of the day saw the Lady Lyons rally to take a lead in the bottom of the 6th inning only to see the Owensboro Lady Red Devils return the favor in the top of the 7th with four runs of their own as the Lady Red Devils outscored the Lady Lyons 13-10.

The two teams had battled back and forth throughout the game. Lyon County led 2-1 after one inning and 4-3 after the second.

Owensboro took a 6-5 lead after the fourth inning and extended that lead to 9-7 after five.

The Lady Lyons began their rally in the sixth with a walk to Gracen Wynn and a single by Destiny Cayce. Olivia Moore drove in a run with a one-out single to trim the lead to 9-8. Emma Brasher laid down a sac bunt to tie the game at 9-9. Lauren Davis continued her big Saturday with an RBI single to give Lyon County a 10-9 lead going into the final inning.

Owensboro tied the game in the top of the 7th with two singles and a delayed steal. Then, with two outs, the Lady Red Devils strung together three straight singles to push across three more runs, giving them a 13-10 lead headed into the bottom of the 7th.

A hit batter and a walk put runners on first and second with one out for Lyon County but a ground out and a pop out ended the threat and gave the Lady Red Devils the win.

Lauren Davis continued her hot streak on the day going 4-5 with two runs scored. Courtney Collins was 3-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Destiny Cayce was also 3-5. Lilly Perry ended up 2-3 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.

Cayce got the start in the circle and went 6 innings. She gave up 12 runs but only 9 of them were earned as the Lady Lyons were charged with six errors in the game.
