The Todd County Central softball team will hope it has seen the last of Russellville for a while after falling to the host Lady Panthers on Tuesday for the third time this season. Russellville overcame a pair of Lady Rebel home runs to capture a 12-2 victory and complete a season sweep. The Lady Panthers also knocked Todd Central out of the 4th-Region All-A Classic to extend their series winning streak to 19 games.
Russellville’s Reese Crosling opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run, and the Lady Panthers added four more runs on Madison Penrod’s three-run single and a Lady Rebel error.
Naomi Gammon and Abby Williams left the yard back to back in the Lady Rebel third, but that was all the offense Lady Panther’s pitcher Chloe Penrod would allow. Penrod earned her 13th win in the circle, striking out four while scattering five hits and issuing a single walk.
A six-run fourth inning rounded out the scoring for the Lady Panthers, highlighted by RBI doubles by Rayleigh Roberts and Akiah Bell. Russellville improved to 17-8 with the win, 2-1 in district play.
Croslin, Roberts, Chrissy Higgins, and Ja’eda Poindexter each finished with two hits for the Lady Panthers.
Addison Woodall took the loss for the Lady Rebels, allowing six earned runs on six hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout over two innings. Jocelyn Mock worked two frames in relief, surrendering six earned runs on seven hits with three walks.
Todd Central slipped to 8-10, 0-3 in the district, ahead of a visit from Logan County on Wednesday.
