Avery Adcock’s 7th home run of the season broke a 1-1 tie and ignited a 5-run rally that propelled the Christian County Lady Colonels to a 6-2 win over Paducah Tilghman on Senior Night. The win was the second straight for the Lady Colonels.
On the night when she was recognized as the only senior on the team, Gracie Harned had one of her best pitching performances of the season, giving up seven hits and striking out 13 as she picked up the complete game win in the circle for Christian County.
Tilghman combined a double and a fielder’s choice to score a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
The game stayed that way until the bottom of the third when Avery Adcock walked with two outs. Gracie Harned then doubled her home, advancing to third on the throw and tying the game at 1-1.
In the bottom of the 5th, Avery Adcock blasted a one-out home run to left field to put Christian County in the lead for good at 2-1. Gracie Harned, Chloe Almy, and Jazzy Tejada followed that with back-to-back-to-back singles to extend the lead to 3-1. The Lady Colonels would add two runs on a Tilghman error and another on a sac fly by the time the inning was over.
Kaiden Rogers homered for the Lady Blue Tornado in the top of the 6th to trim the lead to 6-2, but Gracie Harned honed in and slammed the door on any late-game Paducah Tilghman rally.
Adcock, Harned, and Tejada led the Christian County offense in the game. Each had two hits and one RBI.
The Lady Colonels improve to 14-11 on the season. They are set to be on the road Thursday night to take on the Crittenden County Lady Rockets.
