Despite outhitting hosts Webster County on Tuesday, five miscues tripped Lyon County in an 8-3 loss to the Lady Trojans.  Webster County won its fourth in a row and third straight in the series to improve to 19-8 ahead of a 6th District showdown with Henderson County on Thursday.

Webster County did all of its damage in its first two at-bats, beginning with three runs in the bottom of the first.  Hailey Allen’s RBI single put the Lady Trojans on the scoreboard, and Lyon County’s second error of the inning allowed two runs to come home for a 3-0 score.

Webster blew the game open in the second, with Alyssa Cartwright’s two-run double making it 5-0.  Allen followed with a single to drive in her second run, and Chloe Papineau followed with an RBI double.  Raynei Roy capped the inning with a single to center to push a run across for an 8-0 Lady Trojan lead.

Lilly Perry’s RBI single in the top of the third gave the Lady Lyons their first run of the game, but they had to wait until the sixth to double their total on a Webster error.

Lauren Davis’ one-out single gave Lyon County a lifeline in the top of the seventh, but despite an RBI double by Perry, the Lady Lyons couldn’t claw their way back into the game.

Perry took the loss in the circle, allowing only three earned runs out of eight with six hits, seven walks, and eight strikeouts over six innings.

Papineau earned her 14th win of the season, surrendering two earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over seven frames.  Allen finished with two hits and two RBI, Cartwright drove in two runs, and Papineau hit safely twice with an RBI.

Lyon County slipped to 10-12 with its third loss in four outings.  The Lady Lyons will head to the Owensboro Catholic Classic this weekend with matchups against LaRue County, Breckinridge County, and Butler County.
