Meade County’s Veronica Roberts entered Friday night having given up just 11 runs on the season. She still has just given up 11 runs on the season.
Roberts through a one-hitter against the Christian County Lady Colonels Friday night as the Lady Wave took a 3-0 win in both teams’ first game in the Owensboro Catholic Classic. Christian County’s only hit in the game was a single from Gracie Harned to lead off the bottom of the fourth.
Roberts struck out nine and walked none in leading Meade County to the win.
Gracie Harned took the loss in the circle for the Lady Colonels despite pitching pretty well. Harned gave up three runs, only one of which was earned, on three hits, striking out two and walking two.
The Lady Colonels were charged with three costly errors. Two of Meade County’s runs were as a direct result of Christian County fielding miscues.
Christian County sees its three game winning streak come to an end and drops to 15-12 on the season.
