After rallying to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning, the Lyon County Lady Lyons saw LaRue County walk off a 3-2 win thanks to a Lyon County error in the bottom half of the inning as the Lady Hawks upended the Lady Lyons in both teams opening game of the Owensboro Catholic Classic

LaRue’s Molly Abbott had reached base on a one-out single and, after a fly out for the second out of the inning, scored when the Lady Lyons mishandled a ball hit to the outfield, coming all the way around from first base with the game-ending run.

Trailing 2-1 going into the top of the sixth, the Lady Lyons rallied to tie the game in exactly the same fashion they would lose it in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Jenna Coursey reached on an infield single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. After a pop up, Coursey would then score on a LaRue County error to even things up at 2-2.

Lauren Davis had a big game for Lyon County, going 2-3 with a triple and a run scored. Jenna Course, Gracen Wynn, and Audrey Akridge also had hits for the Lady Lyons.

LaRue County out hit Lyon County 7 to 5 and each team was charged with two errors.

Lilly Perry went the distance for Lyon County in the circle, giving up three runs, only one of them earned, on seven hits, striking out six and walking four.
