Lady Lyons Beat Breckinridge County and Fall to Butler County in Owensboro

After dropping a tough 3-2 game to LaRue County Friday night in Owensboro, the Lyon County Lady Lyons finished out their stay in the Owensboro Catholic Classic by splitting a pair of game Saturday. The Lady Lyons rolled to a big 12-1 win over Breckinridge County in the first game of the day and then lost a tight 6-5 battle against Butler County to close out the day.

Against Breckinridge County, the Lady Lyons scored two runs in the top of the first and kept rolling from there, scoring in each inning on their way to the five-inning win. Lyon County added three runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, and one more in the fifth.

Lilly Perry led Lyon County, going 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Audrey Akridge went 2-3 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Lauren Davis and Emma Brasher were both 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

For the game, Lyon County rapped out 11 hits to just five for Breckinridge County.

Lilly Perry and Courtney Collins both spent time in the circle for the Lady Lyons. Perry struck out two and Collins struck out three.

The second game saw Butler County score all 8 of its runs in the final three innings as the Lady Bears took the three-run five-inning win.

The game was tied 3-3 after three innings but then the Lady Bears erupted for four runs in the top of the 4th to take control of the game. The Butler County bats heated up and pounded out five hits in the inning.

Lyon County battled back to score two runs in the bottom half of the inning but that would be as close as they could get as the Lady Bears added an insurance run in the top of the 5th to secure the win.

Lauren Davis and Courtney Collins had big games for the Lady Lyons. Collins was 2-3 with 4 RBIs. Davis finished 3-3 with two runs scored.

Lilly Perry went five innings in the circle for the Lady Lyons, giving up eight runs on 13 hits, striking out four and walking one.

With the split Saturday, Lyon County goes to 12-14 for the year.
