Caldwell Scores 10 Personal Bests at Area 1 Championship

The Caldwell County boys’ track and field team scored 10 personal bests at Saturday’s Area 1 Championship at Paducah Tilghman as the Tigers get ready for the region tournament later this month.

RUNNING EVENTS

Shane Fairrow came in fifth place in the 100-meter dash in a personal best time of 11.21 seconds — the sixth fastest 100 time in program history. He also had a new best in the 200-meter dash at 24.22 seconds, good for 14th place.

Jackson Risley was 10th in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 47.19 seconds.

Luke Maddox was 13th in the 100-meter dash with a personal best of 11.52 seconds.

Johnathon Adams ran a personal best of 5:59.90 in the 1600-meter run to finish in 22nd place.

Layton Wall was 23rd in running a personal best time of 2:25.65.

Hoayang Wu was 25th in the 800 meters in 2:32.83.

James Phelps was 25th in the 1600-meter run in 6:03.36.

RELAYS

The 400-meter relay team of Luke Maddox, TreVaughn Copeland, Gus Fox, and Shane Fairrow was fifth in 45.30 seconds. Their time was the seventh fastest in program history.

The 800-meter relay team of Luke Maddox, TreVaughn Copeland, Xvaier Lee, and Shane Fairrow finished in sixth place in 1:33.57 — fifth fastest in school history.

The 1600-meter relay team of Timothy Nichols, Max Heaton, TreVaughn Copeland, and Xvaier Lee was seventh in 3:56.31.

The 3200-meter relay team of Haoyang Wu, Jackson Ray, James Phelps, and Layton Wall ran a season-best time of 9:56.12 to finish in ninth place.

FIELD EVENTS

Cooper Mobley finished in second place in the shot put with a personal best of 48-01 — the second-longest toss in school history.  He was also second in the discus throw at 132-06.

Daniel Laurent threw a personal best in the discus throw at 129-01, coming in fifth place. He also finished 10th in the shot put at 38-00.50.

Jackson Risley had a personal best height of 5-6 to finish tied for ninth place in the high jump.

Timothy Nichols jumped a season-best in the long jump at 18-10.25 and the triple jump (40-05.75 (seventh place)

Max Heaton cleared nine feet in the pole vault, a new personal best for the sophomore and second-best in school history. He finished in 13th place. He was also 11th in the triple jump at 38-04.75.

Xvaier Lee was 18th in the long jump at 17-03.

As a team, Caldwell County finished in ninth place with 35 points.
