A pair of Trigg County errors opened the door for a big first inning for hosts Marshall County on Tuesday and the Marshal’s pitching did the rest on the way to a 10-0 victory.

The streaking Marshals won for the ninth straight time to improve to 16-13.  The Wildcats slipped to 6-13 with their fifth loss in a row.

Trigg loaded the bases in its first at-bat but came up empty against Marshall County pitcher Thomas Bagby.  The Marshals answered in the bottom of the first with all the run support Bagby would need, pushing eight runs across with the help of a pair of Wildcat miscues and RBI doubles by Clayton Wyatt and Reese Oakley.

Trigg starting pitcher Grayson McKee exited with two outs in the opening frame, and Lance Breckel came on in relief.  Breckel worked one and two-thirds, allowing a single run on two hits with a strikeout.  Ty Gootee kept the Marshals without a hit over the final three and a third innings, giving up an earned run with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Chase Hampton was a bright spot at the plate for the Wildcats with two hits, and Aidon Butts and Nathan Simmons each finished with a hit.  McKee took the loss after surrendering eight runs, only one earned, on four hits with a walk.

Matthew Henderson had two hits for the Marshals, and Gavin Clark finished with two RBI.  Bagby went three innings to earn the win, scattering three hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Trigg County will be on the road on Thursday to face Caldwell County.  The Tigers were 11-2 winners in the first meeting this season and have won nine straight in the series.
