With just a handful of changes statewide, the KHSAA officially approved the high school football realignment for the 2025 and 2026 football seasons Wednesday. The final approval comes after the draft alignment proposal was released back in February.

Several teams in the YourSportsEdge.Com coverage area will find themselves with new district homes in the fall of 2025.

In Class 2A District 1, Caldwell County, Crittenden County, and Mayfield will now be joined by Trigg County, Fort Campbell, and Todd County Central for a six-team district, where two teams will not make the playoffs. Todd County Central and Fort Campbell move from District 2 while Trigg County drops down to Class 2A after a stay in Class 3A.

Another alignment change would see Hopkinsville move to Class 6A in 2025. The Tigers moved from Class 3A to 5A in 2007 and dropped back to 4A in 2015. They would join a Class 6A District 1 that includes Christian County, Henderson County, and McCracken County. Hopkinsville and Christian County is expected to combine into the new Christian County High School in time for the 2026 season, with the new school to be in Class 6A District 1.

Across the state, 24 schools are changing class. Fifteen will drop, while nine will move up.
