It was not the way the University Heights Academy Blazers wanted to see Senior Night go down. Blazer pitching gave up 13 hits and runs in every inning as Logan County rolled to a 17-6 six-inning win on the Blazers’ home field.

The Blazers were also quite ‘helpful’ to the Cougars’ cause, being charged with 7 errors in the field.

Logan County came out ready to roll and took the Blazers out of this one quickly. After scoring a run in the first, the Cougars hung 5 runs on the board in the second and then two more in the third to go up 8-0.

Trailing 9-0 going into the bottom of the 4th, UHA got on the board with a bases-loaded walk and a double-play to cut the lead to 9-2.

Logan County responded by getting those two runs back in the top of the 5th to effectively end hopes of a big comeback for the Blazers. UHA would add a run in the fifth and three in the six, but it was not enough to keep Logan County from the six-inning win.

Courtland Gibson went 2-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored to lead UHA. Hayden Hunt, Jackson Flynn, and Josh Pace had one hit each for the Blazers.

Davin Yates was big for the Cougars, finishing 2-5 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs.

Hayden Hunt got the start on the mound for the Blazers and went three innings. He was charged with 8 runs, only 3 of them earned, on 6 hits, striking out three and walking two.

With the loss, the Blazers drop to 20-11 for the season. They are scheduled to be at Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.
