Lady Blazers Can’t Weather the Storm in Senior Night Loss

A big start for Hopkins County Central and fielding issues were a bit too much for the UHA Lady Blazers to overcome Monday night. The Lady Storm scored 14 runs in the top of the first on their way to a 22-6 four-inning road win at University Heights Academy on Senior Night for the Lady Blazers.

The Lady Blazers outhit the Lady Storm over the four innings, but five errors opened the door for Hopkins Central to score 9 unearned runs.

The Lady Storm led 14-1 after one inning. They added three runs in the third and then five more in the top of the fourth to close things out.

Chayse Gilliland continued her hot hitting for the Lady Blazers. The 8th grader went 3-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Six other UHA players had one hit each in the game.

Madison Williams, Taylor Cantrell, Emily Dilday, and Kate Lynn Gibson had one RBI each for the Lady Blazers.

Maggie Killough came up with a huge night for the Lady Storm, going 2-4 with 5 RBIs and four runs scored.

The loss drops the Lady Blazers to 4-8 on the season. They are scheduled to host Fort Campbell in an 8th District contest Thursday night.
