An infield error with one out in the bottom of the 9th inning allowed Paducah Tilghman to walk off a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Lyon County Lyons Thursday night at Brooks Stadium in Paducah. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the Lyons as they wrap up the regular season at 20-6.
The Lyons took an early lead in the game scoring a run in the top of the first on a sac fly from Austin Spears that made it 1-0.
The score stayed that way until the top of the 7th when the Lyons added a run on a single from Turner Hurst as the lead grew to 2-0 heading into the final half-inning.
A hit batter and back-to-back walks given up by John Bingham loaded the bases for Tilghman with just one out in the bottom of the 7th. A sac fly and then a two-out RBI single from Trevor Herrter tied the game at 2-2 and sending it into extra innings.
Lyon County, who finished with six hits, was led by Turner Hurst, who finished 2-4 with an RBI. Austin Spears was 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Eli Baker started the game for Lyon County and went just one inning, giving up no runs on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Brady Belt went three innings in relief, giving up no runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one.
John Bingham finished the night on the mound and was charged with the loss. He gave up three runs, two of them earned, on three hits, striking out four and walking three.
