Kady Fuller’s two-run home run in the seventh inning had all kinds of significance for the Trigg County Lady Wildcats who defeated Madisonville 2-0 on Thursday.

Her two-out homer to left broke up Mackenzie Stoltz’s no-hitter and proved to be the only runs of the game.

Veyda Grinols drew a one-out walk and was sacrificed to second base by Rylee Hendricks. The Trigg freshman homered on the first pitch she saw to break the scoreless tie.

For Fuller, it was her fifth home run of the season which set the Lady Wildcat single-season mark previously held by Hannah Colbert, who recently graduated from Northern Kentucky University after a stellar collegiate softball career.

Fuller also increased her RBI team lead to 28.

Stoltz, who entered the game with 126 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA for the Lady Maroons, added 10 more to her strikeout total. She also issued six walks but none of them were costly except for the last one to Grinols. Fuller’s home run was the only hit she gave up.

Trigg loaded the bases with two outs in the third but Stoltz was able to get a three-pitch strikeout to end the threat. The Lady Wildcats put two more runners in scoring position with two outs in the sixth inning before Stoltz induced an inning-ending popout.

Tember Oliver, meanwhile, put together another efficient start for the Lady Wildcats. She allowed four singles and pitched out of trouble in the seventh when Madisonville put runners at first and second base with one out. Oliver got a strikeout and pop up to end the game.

Oliver’s win was her 16th of the season and came on just 73 pitches. She struck out three and didn’t walk a batter.

Trigg County improved to 18-15 and the win is its first over Madisonville in nine career meetings.

Madisonville dropped to 16-12. They play at Owensboro Friday and will host Webster County Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats will begin play in the Fifth District Tournament on Monday at Livingston Central against Lyon County (13-17) at 7:00. Top seed Livingston Central (29-3) will play defending district champion Crittenden County (12-18) at 5:30.
