Trailing 6-4 in the tiebreaking set of the championship match, Lyon County’s Jackson Crawford and Zach Radivonyk scored five straight points and won 10-7 to win the Region 2 doubles title on Wednesday at Hopkinsville’s Ruff Park.
The Lyon County duo and tournament top seed took the first set from Madisonville’s Eli Pinkerton and Noah Mays 6-3. However, the two seed bounced back to take the second set 7-5 and force the tiebreaker.
For Crawford, it was a second straight trip to the region doubles championship. He teamed with Dalton Phillips to finish second last year.
Also advancing to the state tournament were semifinalists Justin Rodgers and Austin Crick of Madisonville, who lost to Crawford and Radivonyk 6-2, 6-3, and Alton Berger and Thomas Berger of Henderson County, who fell to Pinkerton and Mays 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
