University Heights Academy’s Emma Dill ran 2nd in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles on Saturday at Murray High to pace the Lady Blazers’ 5th-place team finish at the Class 1A Region 1 meet.
Skylar Cantrell raced to a runner-up finish in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:34.25, two seconds back of Murray High’s Leah Jenkins. Dill was chasing Murray hurdler Layla Green all day, finishing behind her twice with a time of 16.51 in the 100-meters and a 50.81 in the 300-meters.
Cantrell, Dill, Ajae Oatts, and Aliviah Acree were also 4th in the 4×400-meter relay with a 4:36.30. The team of Oatts, Dill, Alyssa Grise, and Kendall Hancock was also 4th in the 4×200 (1:53.26), and Cantrell, Hancock, Cecilia Langhi, and Kate Adams ran 5th in the 4×800 with a time of 11:21.07.
Oatts ran a 28.15 in the 200-meter dash to finish 4th and added a 6th-place showing in the 100-meters. The Lady Blazers finished with 39 points, 14 back of 4th-place Ballard Memorial. Murray High took home the team title with a total of 130.05.
