Farmer’s 2-Hitter Plants Caldwell in 7th District Final

Caldwell County’s girls pounded out 15 base hits and rode the two-hit pitching of Jackie Farmer to a 16-1 win over Hopkins County Central in the 7th District semifinals Monday in Madisonville.

Farmer struck out three and walked none, but surrendered a fourth-inning home run to miss on the shutout.

Meanwhile, Caldwell’s bats seized control of the contest early, putting up seven runs in the first inning and six more in the second. Three more in the bottom of the fourth ended the game early on the 15-run mercy rule.

Daelen Kizzee was 3-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and two runs scored for Caldwell. Alicia Stanley finished 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Brylee Butts went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs driven in. Maci Tyler was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs. Adley Lewis went 2-for-3 with a double, a run batted in and two runs scored. Harper Holeman was 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Caldwell and Hopkins Central split two games during the regular season, but the Lady Tigers have now taken 19 of the last 20 meetings.

Addison Blanchard homered for Hopkins Central’s run. The Lady Storm ends the season 12-25.

Caldwell’s girls will take a 19-15 mark into Tuesday’s 5:30 championship game against host Madisonville-North Hopkins (18-12).

The Lady Maroons routed Dawson Springs 20-0 in three innings in Monday’s semifinals.

The Lady Tigers and Lady Maroons split their matchups during the regular season.

Caldwell County has not won a district championship since 2002. However, the Lady Tigers have twice been regional runner-up since then — in 2018 and 2023.

Both Caldwell and Madisonville have earned spots in the 2nd Region tournament next week at Christian County.
