Caldwell County junior Benashka Thomas is headed to the Clark’s Pump-n-Shop
State Track & Field Championships in Lexington next week after a second-place finish at the Class A Region 1 Track and Field Championship Saturday in Murray.
Thomas took second in the shot put at 29 feet, 6.5 inches.
She also finished third in the triple jump at 30 feet, 4.5 inches, helping Caldwell’s girls place third in the team standings.
YSE spoke with Thomas following the regional meet at Murray High School.
