Mobley, Caldwell Relay Teams Reach State Meet Medal Podium (w/PHOTOS)

The Caldwell County boys track and field team saw Cooper Mobley and a pair of relay teams reach the medal podium at Thursday’s Clark’s Pump N Shop Class 1A State Track and Field Meet in Lexington.

Mobley, a sophomore who owns the school record in the shot put, threw the round weight 50 feet, 5 inches to finish in third place. Edmonson County’s Kasey Webb won first place at 53 feet, 1 inch.

Mobley also received a medal for his seventh-place finish in the discus throw (139-4).

Daniel Laurent was 12th in the discus throw at 125-8.

The 800-meter relay team of Luke Maddox, Tre Copeland, Max Heaton, and Shane Farrow finished in fourth place with a time of 1:31.63. They set the school record at the region meet and missed another record mark by .21 seconds.

The 400-meter relay team of Gus Fox, Tre Copeland, Luke Maddox, and Shane Farrow finished in fifth place with a school-record time of 44.07, bettering the previous best set at the region meet by .18 seconds.

Max Heaton was 11th in the pole vault with a height of 9 feet, 6 inches.  He was also 19th in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 17.47 seconds.

Luke Maddox was 13th in the 100-meter dash in 11.51 seconds and finished 14th in the 200 meters in a personal best of 23.33 seconds.

Shane Farrow was 13th in the 200-meter dash in 23.27 seconds. His day got off to a disappointing start with a false start in the 100 meters which disqualified him from the race. The sophomore ran the fifth-fastest time in program history at the region meet and has two years to take .26 seconds off his time and set a new standard.

The Tigers just missed a top-10 finish. Their 17 points were good for a 12th-place tie. Shelby Valley’s 19 points were good for ninth place.
