Hopkinsville’s Thompson Named First-Team All-State

Fresh off a trip to the state baseball tournament where he was named to the all-tournament team, Hopkinsville High School’s J.J. Thompson was named First-Team All-State by the Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association.

Thompson, who has signed with Wright State University, was 7-2 on the mound with two saves and an 0.78 ERA. He struck out 143 in 80 innings.

At the plate, Thompson batted .355 with five home runs, 24 RBI, and 16 stolen bases.

Thompson and Lyon County’s Eli Baker were the lone players from the Second Region to earn a postseason nod from the KHBCA.

McCracken County’s Miller Green was voted Mr. Baseball.
