The Kentucky baseball bandwagon has a lot of passengers.
Kentucky coaches and players were greeted by a lot of BBN fans Wednesday before they left Kentucky Proud Park Wednesday to head to Omaha where they will play North Carolina State Saturday in the College World Series.
It’s the first time UK has earned a trip to Omaha, one reason Kentucky’s Nick Mingione was named Perfect Game National Coach of the Year Wednesday. He earned the same honor in 2017.

Mary Bell and her son, Myles, of Danville didn’t intend to be at Kentucky Proud Park for the celebration. However they decided about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday they would go and managed to be at Kentucky Proud Park for the noon celebration.
“We rolled into Kentucky Proud Park and there was a girl on a golf cart turning people away and not letting you park. I told her Myles could not walk from the other parking lot so she let me in to drop him off and luckily there was one handicap spot left right by the bus. It was like it was meant to be,” Bell said.
She said fans were lined up waiting for Mingione and his players to come out and when they did players were fist-bumping and high-fiving fans. The Bells missed getting a chance to talk to Mingione but she asked a UK staff member if he would see if Mingione would come out to get a photo with Myles.

“He came right back out and was so nice,” Bell said. “I think he would have stood and looked at Myles and talked all day. He asked Myles how he spelled his name and said he had a friend who spells his name the same way. He also told him he loved the (blue UK) shirt that he was wearing.”
A news crew from WLEX-TV interviewed the Bells about the experience.
“Myles was grinning ear to ear over that. He loves this team,” Bell said.
After the celebration, the Bells went to Kentucky Branded to get their UK World Series T-shirts.
“No way we could pass up having one of those to wear,” Mary Bell said.

Enjoy reading things like this. Especially, when the coach takes some extra time for special people.
