
Hoptown inched closer to the .500 mark and picked up a game on first-place Paducah with a 9-6 win at Fulton on Friday night.
Brayden Eftink doubled twice and went five innings on the mound to pick up the win as the Hoppers improved to 5-6 on the season.
Hoptown remains in fourth place in the Ohio Valley League standings, but is just 2.5 games behind front-runner Paducah (7-3), which fell to Madisonville 10-7 on Friday.
The homestanding Railroaders (4-8) took a 5-4 advantage with two runs in the fourth inning.
However, Hoptown countered with a three-run fifth to regain the lead for good.
Kolby Webb was 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs batted in for the Hoppers. Eftink was 2-for-5 while Esteban Sepulvedo was 2-for-4 and knocked in two.
Eftink gutted out five innings on the mound to earn the pitching decision. He allowed six earned runs on 12 hits but did not walk a batter while striking out four.
Sam Patrick went the final 1.1 innings to nail down the victory and pick up a save. He struck out three and did not allow a base hit.
Hoptown will play at home Saturday night, hosting the Henderson Flash.
