Big 3rd Inning Sparks Chiefs’ Win Over Hoppers

The league-leading Paducah Chiefs roughed up Hoptown Hoppers pitching to the tune of 18 hits on Tuesday on the way to a 12-4 victory.   The Chiefs improved to 10-3 while the Hoppers slipped back below .500 at 6-7.

Nathan Lang’s two-run double gave the Chiefs a 2nd-inning advantage before the Hoppers got a pair of runs back on Braden Pingel’s two-run triple in the top of the third.  Ayden Terry’s single drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to put the Chiefs in control 8-2.

Luke Dymond collected three hits and drove in four runs, including a two-run single in the fourth for a 10-2 Paducah advantage.  The Hoppers got a run back on Brayden Blevins’ RBI single in the top of the sixth before the Chiefs answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to restore an eight-run cushion.

Dymond capped his big night with an RBI single in the eighth, and the Hoppers could only manage a run in their half of the ninth to end the game.

Max Vosters earned the win for the Chiefs, allowing three earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts over six innings.  Braden Canaan took the loss for the Hoppers, surrendering eight earned runs on 10 hits with four walks.

Pingel collected two hits and drove in two runs, and Gavin Lake finished 2/3 at the plate for the Hoppers.

Parker Price, Kyle Haas, and Brady Grabowski joined Dymond with three hits each, and Lang drove in three runs for Paducah.
