
Pitching struggles turned out to be very costly for the Fulton Railroaders Monday night. The Hoptown Hoppers scored four runs in the top of the 8th inning, three of them by bases-loaded walk or hit batter as the Hoppers took a big 7-5 road win.
The Railroaders also did not help themselves in the field, committing four errors in the game. Those errors allowed the Hoppers to score six unearned runs for the night.
Fulton scored a run in the first and a run in the second to take an early 2-0 lead.
The Hoppers got on the board in the third thanks to a Fulton error to cut the lead to 2-1. Hoptown tied the game in the top of the fourth on a ground out. Another Fulton error was responsible for the Hoppers taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
The second home run of the night for the Railroaders evened things up at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth. Back-to-back hits drove in a pair of runs for Fulton in the bottom of the sixth, putting the Railroaders up 5-3 and setting the stage for the Hopper comeback.
Grant Snider led the way for the Hoppers at the plate, going 2-5 with a run scored. Colton Lovelace finished 2-4 with three runs scored.
Harrison Waxley picked up the win in relief. He went one inning, giving up no runs on no hits, and striking out one.
Fulton pitching had its struggles, giving up four walks and hitting three batters.
