A night after being held to a single run in a road loss to Fulton, the Hoptown Hoppers got the bats going early on Friday to score twice in each of the first two innings on the way to a 5-0 victory over the visiting Henderson Flash.

Peyton Armour was strong from the start on the mound for the Hoppers, allowing a single hit with one walk and nine strikeouts over four shutout innings.

Estaban Sepulveda kicked off a three-hit night with a double in the 1st and came home on Kolby Webb’s RBI single.  Brayden Eftink followed with a double to deep center to bring Webb home for a 2-0 lead.

The Hoppers doubled the advantage in their second at-bat, putting runners on with singles by Carson Tucker and John Kiebler ahead of a two-out, two-run double by Sepulveda.

Braden Canaan and Harrison Waxley each held the Flash hitless over four innings of work, with Waxley striking out two.  Colton Lovelace came on to start the 9th, giving up two hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.

JC Willis took the loss for the Flash, exiting after allowing four earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in three frames.

Webb, Kiebler, and Brayden Blevins each had two hits to help Hoptown improve to 12-15.  On Sunday, the Hoppers will finish a game with Madisonville that was stopped due to weather on June 17 before playing the Miners a second time in a seven-inning contest.
