Mother Has Given Approval to Travis Perry’s Mustache

Certainly listening to Travis Perry explain how he made 59 straight corner 3-pointers in practice was interesting. Same with him explaining how he went 100-for-100 at the foul line three days in a row at practice.

However, I knew Perry could shoot. Maybe not quite like that but he also explained he normally shot well in shooting drills at Lyon County.

No, what I wondered more about Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer and current Mr. Basketball is what was up with the mustache he now has and how that has gone over with his mother?

“She was she was up here this Sunday,” said Perry at Thursday’s UK media opportunity. “She liked it. She had been against it a little bit. Kind of liked the babyface look but now she kind of likes it a little bit.”

Someone asked Perry if maybe the mustache was a good luck omen since he had been shooting at such a torrid pace in practice since adding the facial hair? Or if he started missing shots would he shave the mustache?

“Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t think I’m gonna put my shots directly into the mustache just yet,” he laughed and said. “We’ll give it a couple of weeks and by the end of our summer session, if we’re still shooting it pretty well, it might have to stay.”

He also said he didn’t grow a mustache because of the “Top Gun” craze.

“I just kind of started a little bit and I liked it I guess and just just kept it for a little bit,” the UK freshman guard said.
