It was possibly the best field of the early portion of the high school golf season in Western Kentucky. A total of 24 teams, along with several individuals, turned out Friday for the Daviess County Invitational at Ben Hawes State Park in Owensboro.
The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons, who have been playing well to start the season, had another solid effort on Friday. The Maroons finished their day with a team score of 314, which put them in 9th place.
The team competition was extremely tight with just ten shots separating 4th place from 12th place:

Madisonville-North Hopkins 314
Owensboro Catholic 315
Bowling Green 316
South Warren 319
Owensboro took team honors with a score of 290. Marshall County finished second at 299. McCracken County took 3rd place with a 300.
The top individual performance for the Maroons came from Brennan Cole, who shot a 76 for the day.
Owensboro’s Nolan Warren took medalist honors with a round of 68. Grant Broughton, of Daviess County, and Landon Hunt, of McCracken County, tied at 69 with Broughton winning 2nd place on the tie-breaker.
