Emma Dowell faced some struggles at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club Invitational but still came away with a tie for 31st place.
The Trigg County junior began her day on No. 6 and made par on the first two holes and later added birdies on two of the first holes on the back nine.
However, par escaped Dowell on her final 10 holes and she still managed to push through the round and finished with a score of 90.
Tuesday’s event was postponed a week due to high heat index readings last Tuesday. However, temperatures Tuesday again reached 90 with a heat index in the upper 90s.
Dowell has two more chances to play in invitational tournaments before the Sept. 9 Class 2A State Tournament – Saturday at Paducah Tilghman and Aug. 24 in the Christian County Invitational.
