Much like a typical teenager trying to get up in the morning as a new school year gets underway, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took a little time to find their stride Tuesday evening in their season opener against Logan County at the Stadium of Champions. Once they did, things quickly turned in their direction.
Kaydon Coats scored two goals in a span of less than four minutes early in the second half to provide the spark that got the Lady Tigers rolling on their way to a 3-0 win over the Lady Cougars.
Hopkinsville had scoring opportunities in the first half and controlled the flow of play, but just could not find the way to get things rolling downhill.

Coats broke a 0-0 tie at the 45:00 mark, taking a pass from Rebecca Wood down the middle and finding the net to make it 1-0. Coats then beat the Logan keeper to the right corner at the 48:40 mark to extend the lead to 2-0.
Lauren Mayes added a goal at 58:30 to run the margin to 3-0.
Hopkinsville limited Logan County to just four shots on goal, two in each half, as the defense allowed very few attacking opportunities for the Lady Cougars. Hopkinsville outshot Logan County 18 to 4.. The Lady Tigers got solid play on the backside from Lila Jorgensen, Emma DeArmond, Elizabeth Stevens, and Jaycee Shanklin.
Hopkinsville (1-0) gets back to action Thursday night on the road at Lyon County.
