Lady Lyons Roll Past Union County for Second Time

It was a solid comeback effort for the Lyon County Lady Lyons Thursday night. The Lady Lyons made the journey up to Union County and returned with a big 8-0 win over the Bravettes.

Lyon County controlled this match from beginning to end in cruising to the victory.

The win comes off of a tough 2-1 loss to Caldwell County Tuesday night in the All A Classic, Lyon County’s first loss of the 2024 season.

Seven different players found the net for the Lady Lyons, led by Alice Smith, who scored twice. Other goals were scored by Bailey Breitrick, Chloe Gandee, Anna White, Eden Jones, Nora Lucas, and Gracelynn Taylor.

Richmond Herring added one save in goal for Lyon County as the Lady Lyon defense clamped down tight on the scoring opportunities for the Bravettes.

The road victory was the second shutout of the season for the Lady Lyons, who improve to 3-1 on the season. The other shutout also came against Union County in the season opener August 12, when the Lady Lyons picked up another 8-goal rule win over the Bravettes.

The Lady Lyons get back to action Saturday in a tough morning match. Lyon County will travel to Madisonville-North Hopkins for a brunch-time contest against the Lady Maroons. Madisonville enters the weekend at 2-2 with losses to Marshall County and Henderson County.

That contest is set for a 9:30am start.
