After a year at the prestigious Gatton Academy, Cole Glover is ready to reach athletic heights the way he has in the classroom.

The University Heights Academy senior used a strong third mile to pull away and win the Christian County Season Cross Country Opener on Saturday in Hopkinsville.

Glover covered the rolling 3.1-mile course in 17:20 to claim first place by eight seconds.

While at Gatton last year, Glover was able to run unattached at races but could not participate with UHA due to KHSAA regulations. With his requirements at Gatton now finished, Glover made a strong statement to be a championship contender in both the region and state.

Jude Finch captured a top-20 finish, crossing the line in 19:35 for an 18th-place day. He missed his personal best time set last year by just eight seconds.

Sophomore Zech Davis made his cross country debut with a 50th-place finish in 22:13.

Eyan Jones came across the finish line in 74th place in 23:39 in his first race as a Blazer.

The Blazers did not field the five runners necessary to enter a team score.

Jude Finch finished in 18th place
Zech Davis – 50th place
Eyan Jones – 74th place
