A tough way to lose one for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Monday night. After getting out to a three goal lead, the Lady Tigers saw the Mayfield Lady Cardinals battle their way back to a 4-3 win on a toasty evening at the Stadium of Champions.
Kaylyn Lynch had two first half goals and Kaydon Coats added another as Hopkinsville got out to a 3-0 lead. Rebecca Wood and Kila Cherry had assists in the first 40 minutes.
However, the Lady Cardinals began to swing the momentum back towards their side of the field before the break. Mayfield finished out the opening half with two goals to cut the lead to 3-2 going into the break.
The momentum carried over into the second half for the Lady Cardinals. Mayfield would score twice more in the second and shut down the Lady Tiger attack as the Lady Cardinals completed their rally for the 4-3 win.
The win ended a three match losing streak for Mayfield, who had been shut out in the last two games of that streak.
Hopkinsville drops to 3-3 with the loss. The Lady Tigers hit the road to Fort Campbell for an 8th District match Tuesday evening.
