Apollo Uses Quick Start to Run Past Storm

Coming off a tough loss to crosstown rival Daviess County, the Apollo Eagles were apparently in no mood to waste any time Saturday morning. The Eagles scored twice in the first ten minutes and rolled to a 7-2 homefield win over the Hopkins County Central Storm.

Asukulu Juma found the side net off an assist from Noah Crider just six minutes into the match to put Apollo up 1-0. Just four minutes later, Valor Smith found the goal on a ball coming down off the defense to extend the lead to 2-0.

Ahmad Hanafi scored on an assist from Omid Hanafi at the 26:00 mark to make it 3-0. The first half blitz from the Eagles continued moments later when that duo reversed roles and it was 4-0.

The Storm got a goal late in the half to cut the margin to 4-1 going into the break.

Jason Perez scores off an assist from Valor Smith just seven minutes into the second half pushing the Apollo lead out to 5-1. The Eagles would add goals at 59:00 and 77:00 to move it on out to 7-1.

Hopkins County Central would add a late goal to close out the scoring for the match.

For the Storm, Mason Gallimore had a goal on a penalty kick. Jude Mitchell scored off an assist from Will Scott.

In goal, William Clevenger finished the match with 10 saves.

Hopkins County Central drops to 1-3-2 with the loss. The Storm go on the road Tuesday to take on Heritage Christian Academy.
