The Trigg County girls’ soccer team posted its second shutout of the season on Tuesday, knocking off visiting Christian County 8-0 in a match that ended inside the first two minutes of the second half.

The Lady Wildcats opened the scoring with only seven and a half minutes played when Hallie Joiner scored unassisted.  Joiner turned provider just two minutes later with an assist on a Leiah Hite goal to make it 2-0.

The two switched roles in the 13th minute when Hite crossed for Joiner to score on a header, and Hite added her second goal off an assist from Lillie Richardson less than a minute later.

Three goals over the last 12 minutes of the half put the Lady Wildcats on the verge of a mercy rule victory.  Richardson found the back of the net ahead of a goal by Julie Dalen, and Callie Boggess scored from close range off a pass from Dalen with just seconds remaining.

Trigg County needed less than two minutes to end the game after the break when Joiner found Hite at the near post to tap in and finish her hat trick.

Caroline Kosak made one save to earn the shutout and help the Lady Wildcats improve to 5-3-1 ahead of a visit from Fort Campbell on Thursday.

NeZiyah Bell was busy with 16 saves as the Lady Colonels slipped to 1-6-1.  Christian County will be on the field at the Stadium of Champions on Saturday to host Ohio County and Kirkwood, TN.
