The paying crowd got their money’s worth in Thursday’s matchup between the Trigg County girls’ soccer team and visiting Fort Campbell.  The teams split 10 goals with the Lady Wildcats running out 6-4 winners after three strikes in six minutes in the second half from Leiah Hite to cap the comeback.

Riding the momentum of an 8-0 victory over Todd County Central last time out, the Lady Falcons raced out to a 2-0 lead with 29 minutes left in the first half.  However, Trigg answered with a goal from Lillie Richardson and a Maggie Wolff header off a corner kick to knot the game with just under 15 minutes left in the half.

Fort Campbell found the back of the net again to take a 3-2 edge, but Leiah Hite scored with four minutes to go to tie the match at 3-3 at halftime.

Hite added her second on a penalty kick midway through the second half and scored again three and a half minutes later off an assist from Addison Humphries.  Hite’s free kick with 14 minutes left made it 6-3 before the Lady Falcons added a goal with ten minutes to play to round out the scoring.

Trigg County is unbeaten in its last four to improve to 6-3 ahead of matchups with Madisonville-North Hopkins and Logan County on Saturday at the Stadium of Champions.

Fort Campbell slipped to 3-3 before the Lady Falcons host Fort Knox on Saturday.
