Todd County Central improved to 10-1-1 and ran its 13th-District mark to 3-1 with a 5-0 victory over Logan County on Tuesday in Russellville.
John Mark Campbell only needed to make four saves to post his fifth shutout of the season and help the Rebels to a tenth-straight victory in the series with the Cougars. Todd Central has held Logan scoreless in the last seven meetings.
Sam Perez got the Rebels started with a goal around the ten-minute mark off an assist from John Ross Cardwell, and Cardwell doubled the advantage a short time later with a header off a corner from Chris Salazar.
Midway through the first half, Salazar tapped in from close range off a cross from Tanner Henderson, and Cardwell made it 4-0 at the break when he finished off a through ball from Charlie Campbell.
With an All “A” sectional matchup with Owensboro Catholic looming on Saturday, the Rebels were happy to control play and manage minutes in the second half. With just under two minutes left to play, Cole Gilbert crossed for a Gage White header to round out the scoring.
Saturday’s meeting with Owensboro Catholic is a rematch of the Rebels’ 4-1 victory in last season’s sectional. Todd Central already claimed a 2-1 road win over the Aces earlier this year.
Logan County is now winless in its last eight outings to slip to 2-7-2, 0-3 in district play.
