
The Hopkinsville Tigers celebrated Senior Night and their third win in their last four matches Tuesday night. The Tigers scored early and often on their way to a 9-1 8th District win over Heritage Christian Academy at the Stadium of Champions.
Hopkinsville scored the first five goals of the match to take a 5-0 lead. Heritage scored a late goal in the half to trim that margin to 5-1 going into the break.
The Tigers then finished out the night with four goals to reach the 8-goal rule, ending the match midway through the second half.
A big night for Erick Hernandez, who finished with four goals. Lester Macario, Gavin Harton, Alexander Marcano, Marvin Morales, and David Lopez added one goal each.
The Tigers also got assists from Hernandez, Marcano, Macario, and Alex Ramirez.
Hopkinsville finished the night with 35 shot attempts.
Kallan Davis, who ranks among the state’s top scorers, scored the lone goal for the Warriors. Lucas Weiss had the assist on the score.
Cayden Nowak finished with 17 saves in goal for HCA.
Hopkinsville finishes the season at 6-12 and now gets ready for a big 8th District semifinal match against Christian County on Tuesday night. The Tigers knocked off the Colonels 4-2 on September 19.
Heritage Christian ends the regular season at 1-11-1. The Warriors will face Fort Campbell Saturday afternoon at 4:00 in the opening round of the 8th District tournament at University Heights Academy.
