Coming off a tough district loss to University Heights on Monday, the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors were looking to rebound and get back on track Tuesday evening as the Caldwell County Lady Tigers came to visit. With Katie Cansler back in the lineup, things went a little bit smoother for the Lady Warriors as they took the straight-set win over the Lady Tigers.
Cansler, who was out of the lineup in the loss to UHA returned with a big night, despite still looking a bit under the weather. Cansler finished with 10 kills, 2 aces, and an assist in the win.
Heritage Christian came out firing on all cylinders in the opening set against the Lady Tigers, taking the first 25-14.
The turning point of the match came during the second set. Caldwell County controlled play all through the second set and looked to be set to even up the match at one set each as they led 24-19 and had five set points lined up in front of them.
But HCA buckled down and scored 7 straight points and came back to take the set 26-24 to go up two sets to none.
Heritage then closed out the match by taking the third set 25-17 to complete the sweep.
In addition to the big night from Cansler, HCA got 10 kills and 4 aces from Mya Goodwin. Freshman Grace Conley added 7 kills. Hadlee Hayes ended up with 15 assists for the Lady Warriors.
Caldwell County was led by Brylee Butts with 11 kills, 3 digs, 1 ace, and 1 block. Kylee White had a big night with 22 assists, 6 digs, and 3 aces. Rylee Thompson finished her night with 5 kills and 6 digs.
Heritage Christian (14-5) is back in action Thursday on the road at Webster County.
Caldwell County (12-7) is set to host Hopkinsville Thursday night.
