
Playing without their senior leader, the University Heights Academy Blazers had their struggles on the road Thursday night. The Lady Blazers wrapped up the regular season on the road falling in straight sets to the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons.
Madisonville came out and took control of the match early on, winning the first set 25-9 to go up one set to none.
The Lady Blazers battled back in the second set and had a chance to even things up. However, it was the Lady Maroons who found a way to win the set 26-24 to go up two sets to none.
The third set was much like the first, as the Lady Maroons cruised to a 25-10 win to complete the sweep.
Keira Williams had a big night for the Lady Maroons with 14 assists, 9 kills, 7 digs, and 5 aces.
Leah Moody added 10 digs, 8 aces, and 3 kills. Mackenzie Stolts chipped in 10 kills and 8 digs.
Taylor Cantrell led the Lady Blazers with three kills.
Gretchen Durham added six assists and six digs for UHA.
The Lady Blazers were without senior Olivia Oakley who was not available to play in the match.
Madisonville-North Hopkins finishes the season at 8-22. The Lady Maroons will open district play Monday night when they take on Hopkins County Central.
UHA fall to 8-19 with the loss.
