A big honor from his NFL team Tuesday for a former Christian County Colonel. According to the report from Steelers.Com, Cory Trice Jr. was presented the Ed Block Courage Award Tuesday during the Arthur J. Rooney Courage House Luncheon at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. The luncheon benefits the Holy Family Institute in the Steel City.

The Christian County High School grad knows a thing or two about courage and perseverance in his life.

Trice’s father was shot and killed when Cory was just 10 years old.

He has had to deal with a torn ACL not once but twice in his career. Once, while he was playing college football at Purdue. That injury was suffered in 2021 after he had started two games for the Boilermakers that season.

Then, just as things appeared to be ready to take off last year with his NFL career. Trice suffered a torn ACL just weeks before he was to play in his first preseason game after being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Trice has obviously made an impact on his Steeler teammates, it was the rest of his team that voted to honor him with the award which is presented to a player who has exemplified courage by coming back from an “injury or a life-altering situation.”

Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin was on hand to present the award to Trice at the luncheon and spoke very highly of the young man from Hopkinsville.
