Peyton Williams to Continue Baseball Career at WKU

Lyon County’s Peyton Williams will continue his baseball career On the Hill.

Williams signed with Western Kentucky University during a Wednesday ceremony alongside four of his Lyon teammates at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.

Besides Williams, John Bingham signed with Mississippi State, Eli Baker with Radford, Austin Spears with Northeast Mississippi and Korben Lucas with Frontier.

Williams is a catcher at Lyon but figures to do more pitching in Bowling Green.

He was a key member of last year’s Lyon squad, which was state runner-up in the All A Classic in Richmond.

The Lyons went 22-7, including a fifth-straight 5th District title.

Williams hit .291 last season with two home runs and 21 RBIs. Williams also had nine doubles and three triples while playing in all 29 games for the Lyons last season.

During his sophomore season in 2023, Williams hit .312 with two home runs and 18 RBIs.

His older brother, Brody, plays college baseball at Kent State.

Western Kentucky is an NCAA school. The Hilltoppers compete in Conference USA. WKU went 36-22 last spring and reached the CUSA semifinals.
