
The Christian County girls’ basketball team got off to a winning start to the season on Friday with a 74-49 victory over hosts Kenwood.
Senior Ne’Veah Day led the way with 24 points and 18 rebounds, including 10 points in the first quarter to jumpstart the Lady Colonels’ win.
Lazarie Daniel added 10 points in the opening frame and the Lady Colonels led 24-12. Anaysia Bagwell scored six in the second quarter to overcome a pair of three-pointers by Kenwood’s Sarai Townsend and give Christian County a 16-point halftime cushion.
The Lady Colonels continued to pull away after the break with seven points from Day, and Bagwell added six in the fourth to close out the win.
Bagwell joined Day in double figures with 20, and Daniel finished with 17 for Christian County.
The Lady Colonels will look to extend their winning run on Saturday when they travel to Warren Central to face the East Nashville Magnet School and Northwest, TN in the 4th Annual Faith Harbor KY-TN Challenge.
Kenwood slipped to 1-3 despite 14 points from Townsend. Yazmine Pearson scored half of her 12 points in the fourth quarter, and Zakiya White added 10.
