While it is just the second week of the 2024-2025 basketball season, the Lyon County Lady Lyons opened 5th District play Tuesday night. Using a big second quarter from Piper Cotham to take control of the game, the Lady Lyons rolled to a 61-42 win over Livingston Central in the Lady Lyons’ first home game of the season.

With the Lady Lyons leading just 15-14 after the first quarter, Cotham heated up in the second, scoring 11 points in the quarter as Lyon County pushed the lead out to 41-27 at the half.

Cotham continued her run to start the second half, scoring 8 more points in the third quarter as the Lady Lyons ran the lead out to 59-36 heading into the last 8 minutes of the game.

Livingston Central limited the Lady Lyons to just one field goal in the fourth quarter but the lead was too much for the Lady Cardinals to get past as Lyon County took the 19 point win.

Piper Cotham finished the night with 21 points, 19 of them coming in the second and third quarters when the Lady Lyons effectively put the game away. Trinity Taylor added 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jenna Coursey also hit double figures with 11. Courtney Collins ended up with 7 points and 14 rebounds.

For Livingston Central, Victoria Joiner was the leading scorer with 18 points. Aubrey Leahy added 8 points while Taylor Leahy had seven.
