Hopkins County Central’s girls took command in the second quarter on the way to a 56-34 triumph at 7th District rival Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.

Hopkins Central held the Lady Maroons to just a Taylor Nelson 3-pointer in the second stanza while opening up a 29-13 advantage at halftime.

Addie Menser scored seven of her nine points in the second quarter to help the Lady Storm build its 16-point edge at the break.

Instead, Hopkins Central took a 40-20 margin to the fourth quarter and led by as much as 23 in the final frame.

Hopkins Central plays again on Friday when it hosts Trigg County as part of a girls and boys doubleheader.
