Lady Colonels Hand Graves County First Loss

A big win Friday night for the Christian County Lady Colonels at the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Hoops Classic. NeVaeh Day and Anaysia Bagwell led Christian County in a strong third quarter effort that allowed the Lady Colonels to get a little breathing room and then they held on for a 51-47 win over Graves County.

The loss was the first of the season for the Lady Eagles after opening the season with three straight wins over Livingston Central, Lyon County, and Calloway County.

Six different Lady Colonels scored in the first quarter as Christian County took a 14-13 lead.

Graves County, led by Kinsey Burgess, outscored Christian County by one in the second quarter to send the game to the break tied up at 24-24.

Christian County’s defense came out and locked down on the Lady Eagles in the third quarter, allowing Graves County just two field goals. Anaysia Bagwell and NeVaeh Day combined to score all 18 points for the Lady Colonels as Christian County headed into the fourth quarter holding a 42-33 lead.

The Graves County defense turned the tables on the Lady Colonels in the fourth quarter but Christian County was able to get enough done to turn back the Lady Eagle rally and take the four point win.

NeVaeh Day finished with 19 points for Christian County, 15 of them in the second half. Anaysia Bagwell added 16 and Lazarie Daniel ended up with 16.

Ginger Martin was the only Lady Eagle to hit double figures with 14 points. Kailee Winfrey added 9 points.

Christian County (3-2) goes to McCracken County to take on the Lady Mustangs in the Holiday Hoopla Classic Saturday night.
