The Christian County Colonels continue to look for that first win here in the early part of the 2024-2025 basketball season. Playing without several players in the wake of Thursday night’s incident that ended their game with Paducah Tilghman, the Colonels fell behind early and never recovered as they fell to South Warren 92-65 in the Colonels’ second game of the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Hoops Classic.

The Spartans hit the floor with their long-range shooting focused in. South Warren knocked down five threes in the first quarter and took a 25-7 lead after one. The South Warren defensive pressure caused the short-handed Colonels plenty of ball security issues from the start.

Things went from bad to worse for the Colonels as the second quarter got underway. South Warren scored the first 9 points of the second quarter to run the lead out to 34-7. The Spartans would hold serve from that point for the rest of the half and take a 53-27 lead into the break.

Rahsean Stevenson kept the Colonels within shouting distance by scoring 11 points for Christian County in the first half.

Both teams had their offenses going as they came out for the second half. The lead bounced around between 25 and 31 points before 8 points late in the quarter from NaDarien Rowe helped the Colonels trim the lead to 77-49 going into the fourth. Rowe and Rahsean Stevenson combined to score 21 points in the quarter for Christian County.

With the big lead, reserves saw extensive action for the Spartans in the fourth quarter as they played it out for the 27-point win. Christian County got strong finishes from NaDarien Rowe, Rahsean Stevenson, and Zyon Wharton.

The play of Rahsean Stevenson was a big bright spot for Christian County. Stevenson finished with 23 points. NaDarien Rowe added 11, all coming in the second half. Zyon Wharton also hit double figures with 10.

South Warren placed four players in double figures led by Griffin Rardin with 13 points. Thad Hall, Jace Jarvis, and Camden Page ended up with 12 points each.

Christian County (0-6) is back in action Tuesday night as the Colonels go on the road to take on Bowling Green.
