
Seven states will be represented when the 2024 West Kentucky Hoops Classic is played Dec. 27-28 at the CAB gym in Princeton.
Action gets underway at 11 a.m. both days, with seven games on tap each day.
The event includes some of the top high school teams around the southeast, including Bowling Green, which has been ranked in Kentucky’s Top 10 this season and is expected to challenge for the 4th Region championship.
The Hoops Classic will mark a homecoming for BG head coach D.G. Sherrill, who was a senior on the last Caldwell County team to play in the 2nd Region championship game in 1987.
Another former Tiger, Matt Fraliex, will bring his Crittenden County squad to the Hoops Classic as well.
Besides Kentucky, teams from Arkansas, Alabama, Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi will play in this year’s event.
Little Rock Christian Academy will bring the most heralded recruit to Princeton in 5-star prospect JaShawn “JJ” Andrews. The 6-foot-7 wingman holds an offer from John Calipari and the University of Arkansas. His offer list includes numerous Div. I schools including Illinois, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas Tech and Marquette.
Several other college prospects will play in the 2024 Hoops Classic as well.
Pinson Valley, Alabama, which has become a crowd favorite in several appearances in Princeton, is back again this season with an athletic and No. 7-ranked Class 6A team.
Both Caldwell County teams will be in action each day.
Caldwell’s guys will face Heritage Christian Academy of Hopkinsville at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 before meeting Shades Valley, Alabama, at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
The Lady Tigers will play South Panola, Mississippi, at 2 p.m. on the first day before facing Carlisle County in the opening game at 11 a.m. on day two.
Sherrill and the Bowling Green Purples will close play each day at 8 p.m. with highly-anticipated matchups against East Coweta, Georgia, and Little Rock Christian.
