Storm Downs Caldwell for 3rd at St. Mary Classic

A pair of 7th District teams battled for third-place in the St. Mary Christmas Classic on Monday.

Hopkins County Central got 18 points from Davonyae Butcher and 16 from Luke Sumner while knocking off Caldwell County 64-55.

The Storm held small margins in each quarter to pick up the win. Hopkins Central led 13-11 after one quarter, 32-27 at halftime and 51-44 after three quarters.

Cohl Hoard added 10 points for the Storm.

Meawhile, Jaydarius Wilson and Daelyn Lander each had 13 points to lead Caldwell. Cade Rowland added 12 and Kam Wilson had 10.

The Storm (4-4) and the Tigers (5-4) will play twice next month — Jan. 17 in Princeton and Jan. 24 in Mortons Gap.

Hopkins Central will play in the Stewart County Christmas Classic this weekend.

Next up for Caldwell is the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton on Friday and Saturday. The Tigers will face Heritage Christian Academy Friday at 12:30 before taking on Shades Valley (Alabama) Saturday at 6:30.
